BIOGRAPHY
2009
Due artistic differences Mark and Jasper left the metal band they were involved. They were tired of the buzzing of electric guitars and looked for a more organic and natural approach. Thus under the name FAELWA they self-released the calm and serene “Farewell Sun” EP. The music was recorded in both household locations and the famous Excess Studios. Arjan Hoekstra (ex-The Endorphins, Mirna’s Fling, The Good Hand) took care of the session drums. The EP is available both physical and digital.
2010
A new project was born: STORMSTERK. This time the two-man formation began to write songs based on Mark’s narrative lyrics. They elaborated the nature-romantic acoustic approach even more. Again the guys found themselves in different household locations, writing and recording in a spontaneous and natural way. STORMSTERK self-released the full-length album “Wild en Bijster Land” both physical and digital. The digital version is available for free. Talent scout Thor Joakimsson let him be enthused by the two’s music, which resulted in a contribution to the superb Maere compilation from both STORMSTERK and FAELWA. In September Jasper left for New Zealand, exploring freedom and nature for 8 months.
2011
After the homecoming of Jasper, they started off with renewed energy. Arjan Hoekstra became a permanent member of FAELWA and will be involved writing the next record. While writing the successors of “Farewell Sun” and “Wild en Bijster Land“, they felt a renewed need for electric guitars, as their metal hearts woke up from hibernation. As resonant to this heavy beating they formed ALVENRAD. This new folk rock episode will be metal music, while the nature-romantic and folkloric elements are still present.
